Our Competitions

We have various woodturning competitions during the year, namely the Monthly Turning Competition, Turning of the Year and a Christmas Turning Competition where the items are voted on or judged and cash prizes and Trophies are awarded.

As a Club, we have been extremely honoured to have been donated two Trophies by Mark Baker, one from Sue Harker, one by Peter Hallam and one by Barracks News, Tattershall to present to those talented winners of our competitions.

  • Every member or guest will have a vote for each class using the three different voting slips.
  • Points are awarded for the top three places, 3 points for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd.

  • Class winners receive £3 for 1st, £2 for 2nd and £1 for 3rd, which will be paid at the end of each year in one lump sum in the form of vouchers to spend in the Club Shop.  This has been introduced to reduce the administration of the competition table on the night.
  • As of 2019, the Member gaining the highest number of points in a year in each class wins.  They will receive the main class trophy.  In addition, a personal smaller trophy will be awarded, which will be theirs to keep forever. In the event of a tie for 1st place, the total number of 1st places will be used as a decider, or failing that, the number of 2nd or 3rds will be used if necessary.

  • Promotion to Club Class:
    • When an entrant gets to an accumulative score of 15 points, they will receive a Certificate and will be moved up to the Club Class at the start of the New Year. Increased from 10 to 15 as of 2017.
  • Members can move up to the Club or Open Class whenever they wish, but must then stay.
