14 Mar 2023 – Hands on Night

After a hectic few days at the Midlands Woodworking Show at Newark, we returned to the Village Hall to unload and put everything away, well briefly, as we then had to set up the evening for our Hands on Night.  With our resident Humpers and Dumpers on the case, we soon had everything set up and ready to go, for what could be a busy night.  With a lot of interest shown in the Club at the Show, we hoped we might see a few new guests as a result.

Well we were not disappointed as the Hall started to fill up we were really pleased to see 37 members and new guests arrive for the evening’s activities.  With four lathes set up, Chris, Darren, John Mitchell and Mick were kept busy passing on their wealth of knowledge and experience to those wanting to have a go often for the very first time like for example, Hazel and Jason who had seen us at the Show and came along.  Thanks to our turners who did an excellent job as usual.

Out in the shop, our shop keepers were kept busy all evening.  John Radford, Paul, Mel and Dave, our four willing volunteers who are taking on the task of running the Shop with the idea of sharing the work and to enable Mick to be free to go on the lathe inside. This will also enable each one to get a break during the evening to actually get into the hall instead of being stuck in the shop all night.

We had a great display of items brought along to put on our exhibition table for all to see, admire, discuss and critique if necessary.  So if you have made something please bring it along next month even if you do send us photos to go into the Show and Tell at the online Workshop Night.  Photos do not always do justice to the item, so lets see what you have been making.
