RIP HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II

On behalf of the Club, we send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family on the sad loss of a Mother, a Grandma, Great Grandma and of course our Queen for an amazing 70 years. She will be sadly missed.

WORKING PARTY NEEDED

On the forthcoming Training Day on Saturday 24 Sept, we need your help.  We are urgently needing to do some work on the container to weather proof it before Winter sets in.  We need to cover the container with a separate roof to prevent the rain from getting in.  This will involve working on the top of the container to build a wooden framework and then covering it which some corrugated sheets. So those who offer their services need to be physically capable of doing the work and happy to be up a ladder and on the roof itself.  This work is likely to take a couple of days, but depending on how it goes and weather dependent it might need longer and moved to different days.  If you are able to help please get in contact.  We can’t do this without you so please help if you can.

AMAZON SMILE

As you are hopefully aware, the Club is now a Registered Charity with the Charity Commission.  This gives us the benefit to obtain support from certain companies who offer cash back on purchases made, by people like you.  We registered with Amazon Smile and if your house is like mine, I don’t think a week goes by without a very distinctive Amazon box being delivered at our door.

We can get money from people who use Amazon and want to give their Smile funds to us.  Below is the link for you to sign up.  It doesn’t cost you anything and the price you pay on the items you buy is not increased.  We then get 0.5% of whatever you spend.  Now that does not sound much, but every penny helps and it soon builds up.  So please go and have a look and support your Club in this way.  Thank you.

TRAINING DAY

Following the first successful training day in July, as you know we have another fully booked training day on the 24 Sept 22.  Following our Committee meeting on 6 Sept, we have decided to try and run at least 4 Training Days per year, subject to our Turners availability.  So as there is not much year left, we are looking at arranging another training day on Sat 26 Nov.  If you would be interested in attending this, can you get in contact as soon as possible so we can gauge the level of interest.  Then if there is enough interest you will be informed first when the booking system goes live.  We expect to have all four lathes in operation, 3 slots on each lathe in the morning and the same again in the afternoon.  Cost will be £10 per hour with a max of 3 hours per person.

I am willing to help with the roof repairs, but I can’t do the 24 as that’s the day of my sons wedding. Will bare in mind the Amazon smile when doing purchases. Finally I will look at the training date with a view of a booking.

As mentioned at the committee meeting I’m available for the working party but should we include a contact point to volunteer to maybe Mick as organiser? We know that very few people get as far as the contact box on here
