The Club is back, but not as you know it!
It has been some time since we have been able to meet as a Club and therefore very little news to publish. However, we have not been idle during the lockdown and have been looking for ways to keep the spirit of the Club’s members during these difficult times. We have tested online meeting opportunities, as due to the current distancing rules, we are unlikely to be meeting face to face for some time.
We are pleased to advise you that we have made the following online meeting proposal, of which you will be receiving further information by email in the next few days:
We will hold a “Show & Tell” meeting on Tuesday 16th June 7pm, to enable members to chat with other members of the club. So if you have made anything whilst in lockdown, bring it along and show on your camera. This will be a free meeting and all members are welcome. This meeting will also give you the opportunity to try the free Zoom software to see what is possible and be ready for the next full online Club meeting. If you need any help with setting these up, let us know as we are here to help you.
We then intend to hold a monthly meeting online, that will include a demonstrator. We have asked Chris Parker to demonstrate live for us via Zoom on Tues 30 June starting at 7pm. This will also be a free meeting and all members are welcome. He specialises in Woodturning, Texturing & Colouring. Please check out his website to see some of his work at: https://www.spaltedvase.co.uk/
Online meetings are for existing members from 2019/2020.
The Committee has also agreed to contact all members to inform them of our proposals and in some cases a telephone call to those who have not picked up their emails. (Please check your emails regularly)
We do understand that not everyone has good access to the internet or are interested in watching online demos. We hope those who are interested and able to, will get involved to be able to see and talk to other members, probably for the first time in months.
Mick Close has also agreed to open up the Club Shop on Saturday 13 June , 10 am to midday, so if you need any supplies, please call in. Strict social distancing rules apply. If you have a mask and gloves please feel free to wear them. Unfortunately, we can’t take card payments, so it will have to be cash only. So if you know what you want, please call Mick (01507) 526138 in advance, so he can sort out your order to speed up the process if there are a few of us arriving at the same time.
The Club Shop has in it’s possession the following at competitive prices. If anyone is interested please contact Mick:
