25 Feb 2020 – Peter Hallam Demo and Competition Results
PETER HALLAM DEMO
For our first Club night of 2020, saw a great turn out and some new faces on a rather wet and windy evening. We welcomed our resident turner, Peter Hallam to the stage who demonstrated his technique for mounting turning and finishing natural edge bowls and vases. There was something for everyone as promised and although we had a lot of banter on the night, I’m sure we all picked up at least one tip that we could use.
It was great to have several people helping to set up and break down the hall on the night, thank you to all who mucked in as it is a big help. We really do need our ‘younger’ and more physically fit/able members to come forward to offer their assistance where possible, ideally arriving around 6pm to help get everything set up and then stay on at the end, to help put it all away again and clean up the hall. As they say, Your Club Needs You!
The Club Shop was busy again and thankfully, we despatched another full van load of donations to the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. Thank you for your continued support in this venture and please keep clearing out your unwanted jumble.

COMPETITION RESULTS
This is the last time we will have the Competition table on a Club Night. We are going to move it to the on Hands on Night for a trial period to encourage more members to enter their work, plus we will have more of an opportunity to be able to discuss whats been made. Please remember to vote on the table as normal. We do try and inspire everyone to improve and one way is to compare your work to others: no pressure or criticism.
This month we had another great selection of work, we just need more people to bring what you have turned.

What’s up Next?
March is going to be a busy month starting with the 10th March Hands on night, this will be your last chance to book “one to one” training day on the 21st March in the old fashioned way on paper, but you can still book your place online here. Also, if you have items to be displayed at the Newark Show, please bring them along, clearly marked with your name and packaged suitably. The Club will of course take good care of your items, but we won’t be held responsible should there be any breakages.
We have the Newark Show on the 27th – 28th which we will have a stand at, more details are here. Hope to see you there.
Then to end the month off, on the 31st March, we have Andy Roundthwaite demonstrating for us. See you all there.
