TRAINING DAYS

Following the success of last year, we are pleased to announce the four dates we have booked for 2020.  These are 21 Mar, 13 Jun, 12 Sept and 28 Nov.  So you have plenty of time to get yourself booked into at least one or more of the available dates.  There is not long now to the March one so please go to the Training Day Page – Click HERE to find all the details and importantly the online booking system.  If you have any problems, please contact Martin.

We have four turners available for all dates except the 12 Sept, of which we only have three, but watch this space as we hope to be able to fill it soon.  Please ensure you state what you want to do as we may need to move you to a more suitable turner/instructor as necessary.

There will be a hard copy of the booking sheet available at the Club on each meeting, so if you can’t book online or for those who do not use modern technology, so they don’t miss out, please fill in the form.

Our turners/instructors will be in contact with each person booking nearer the time to discuss exactly what you want to do, to be able to prepare.

AGM

The Club’s Annual General Meeting is being held on 28 Jan 2020 at 7pm.  Please support this meeting as it’s your Club and we need your involvement.  You will all have been sent a copy of last year’s Minutes and the Agenda by Alan Buckle our Club Secretary if you have not seen them, please contact him.  There will be a few hard copies available on the night, but we are trying to save on paper and printing.

Once the formal meeting has been completed, we will be having a talk by John Liles on a something different to Woodturning that we all know he is an expert on.  He has worked as a miller at a Windmill near where he lives for many years so it will be interesting to learn all about it.

TURNING OF THE YEAR COMPETITION

We will be holding the Turning of the Year competition which we hope will be another amazing display of our member’s work.  We are pleased to annouce that we have Dave Green from Turners Retreat doing the judging this year and also is sponsoring the prizes.  Please support this competition and bring along some of your work.  Here are the rules:

  • Up to three entries per person.
  • One class.
  • Entries must have been made in that year – i.e. made between AGMs.
  • Judging by guest judge(s).

  • 2nd Place receives £20 in Club Shop Vouchers.
  • 3rd Place receives £10 in Club Shop Vouchers
  • Engraved Trophy will be presented at the February Club meeting.

And Lastly

We would like to remind you all, that we require you to wear the supplied name badge or display your name on your clothing at every meeting.  This is very important and for your own safety.  Whilst we try to know everyones name, its hard to remember everyone, especially new members or guests.  If something was to happen to you whilst at the Club, we instantly need to know who you are.  This is especially important to new members/guests who we might not have met before.  We supply everyone with a name badge once they join the Club or if you have a shirt with your name on, it is acceptable to just use that.  If you forget your name badge, your shirt is in the wash or have not yet been issued with a badge, it’s not a problem.  Please ensure you write your name on a self adhesive labels that are available in the Club and wear that during the evening.

Our 2020 programme is almost full, so check out who we have coming on the Demonstrators page.
