3 Oct 19 – ‘Old FARTS’ Gentleman’s Club Turning Session
OLD FARTS WOODTURNING TASTER SESSION
On Thursday 3rd Oct 19, the Club was pleased to welcome nine visitors from a local group named the ‘Old FARTS who are all ex Round Table members. They are a group of friends that first met over twenty years ago in the Round Table. When it became time for them to leave, because of the age limit for membership, they decided to meet up once a month for a night out. The name FARTS stands for Fellowship After Round Table or Former Active Round Tabler’s.
One of their members, Peter Barrack, who is also on our Committee, invited them along for a woodturning taster session and then a meal at the West Ashby Arms. We had four lathes set up, manned by our resident experts, John Liles, Chris Fisher, Peter Hallam and new to helping was Ian Flack. A massive thanks to all the guys for giving up another evening to make this another successful evening. We had 8 guys having a go at turning in which they all made something to take away with them ranging from a tea light holder or mushroom.
Following the evening, Peter, the organiser of the night passed on his thanks: “I would again thank the members of the Wolds Woodturning Association for a thoroughly enjoyable evening experiencing a new hobby”.

It was a great night and a pleasure to be involved. A great bunch of lads who were up for a bit fun.
