24 Sept 19 – Rick Dobney and Competition Table
RICK DOBNEY DEMO
September’s Club Night with a demo by Rick Dobney went as expected with a good crowd enjoying the evening. Rick brought along some of his more ambitious ‘off centre’ turnings to display and explained that although the items look really complicated to achieve, as long as you follows some basic rules and think through how to mount your work it becomes a set of smaller stages and simpler than you might imagine. He demonstrated a wet wood, very thin stemmed, cherry goblet in the first half and then went on to show us how to set up, mount and turn a small bowl within another bowl. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and took advantage of the shop which was ready to serve up all that you might need for your hobby. Please take time to look at the pictures to get an idea of how the evening went. Thanks to Rick for an inclusive, informative and enjoyable evening.
Competition Table, not too many entries this month again, although the items submitted were again a great indication of the skills we have in the club, It is important we show each other and potential members just what can be achieved with a little ingenuity and effort. Come on folks get on your lathes and show us what you can do: it would be a great shame to lose the Table!!
