Jumble Collection & Training Day

During the last Hands on Night, we were pleased to see the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance representative arrive in their bright yellow van.  They had come to collect all the jumble that had been kindly donated by our members.  The large pile of bags and boxes that we had collected over the last couple of months were moved into the back of the van which filled it up to the roof.  Another large amount of the wooden jigsaw puzzles had been kindly donated which the Air Ambulance representative was really pleased with as the last lot flew off their shop shelves.  We were presented with a certificate for the sum of £104 for the last collection which brings our total raised by this venture up to £956, so a BIG THANK YOU to all those that have donated items that you no longer want.  Since the collection, we have already had a few more bags of items arrive so please keep them coming to support this worthy cause.

Saturday’s training day saw three of our dedicated resident turners giving individual guidance and training on a one to one basis to those wanting to improve on both basic and advanced skills in wood turning.  It has always been the aim of the club to promote this skill and as it is fast becoming an art form it is important that we try and encourage younger generations to this exremely satisfying hobby.

A BIG THANK YOU to those who gave up their time to organise the day and make it a worth while event for those attending; we hope that this will stir others interest in the club and persuade them to come and have a look.

The three Training Days we have done this year have been very successful and all those that have attended have found them really useful.  So much so, we are planning to do some more of these days next year, possibly in Feb, May, Jul and Sept, depending on hall availability.  Keep an eye on the website for more details once the dates are finalised.

Our next event is tommorow night where we have a demonstration by Rick Dobney, so not one to be missed.
