5 Aug 19 – Pat Carroll All Day Demo

The Pat Carroll afternoon and evening demonstration on 5th Aug 19 was probably the best day event that we have hosted at West Ashby.  Pat even brought along some dedicated followers from the Chestnut Woodturning Weekender event held in Spalding over the weekend, plus members from other Clubs.

Pat has a very “let’s get on with it and enjoy yourself” outlook to turning and demonstrated that no matter what happens you can still produce a nice finished piece of work.

Our afternoon visitors saw the creation of a square, textured, black trinket box with pewter inserts on all sides.  This is quite a feat to do in front of a barracking intent audience.  All done with good humour, he followed with some thin walled natural edged bowls mounted on a slate base.  We were also shown different mounting options and fast drying techniques, how to make a small pendant jig and finally a tribute to Nick Agar’s Stars and Moon bowl.
