13 Aug 19 Hands on Night and new items in the Shop.
HANDS ON NIGHT
This months Hands on Night was very well supported with a few new faces and the regular members. We had Chris Fisher, John Liles, Stuart Lowe, Peter Hallam and Richard Holland on the lathes all passing on their vast experience. Thank you guys for your continued support. Peter Blows and I went on the new Robert Sorby Pro Edge sharpener to demonstrate how to use it and to show how to reshape badly ground chisels back to hopefully something that might cut a bit better.
The idea with the Pro Edge is we show you how to use it safely and then you can use it yourself for a small donation per chisel sharpened towards the cost of replacement belts. If interested in buying one, speak to Mick and he can get you a good deal from Turners Retreat.
John was kept busy in the Club Shop with lots of sales during the evening plus I had received the Lovell Workwear order earlier that day so orders that people had placed were ready to be collected and paid for.

CLUB SHOP
Mick Close our resident Arkwright has been out and about finding new products to sell in the Club Shop. Following the recent Club survey, we are now stocking a few chisels and other tools. We have now got in stock, some Robert Sorby chisels either available individually or in complete sets.
We also have the new Chestnut Metallic Paints at £8 each or £24 for a starter set of 8 small bottles. This is a water based product, shimmering paint for special effects and general use. They come in Black, White, Silver, Gold, Green, Dark Blue, Copper and Pink.
We also have the new Chestnut Aerosol handle/gun at £5.25 which makes the use of the aersols so much easier to use.
Lastly, as that dreaded Christmas word is getting nearer on the horizon, we have some of Emma Cook’s, ‘The Tiny Turner’ Glass Baubles for sale at £5 each.

And lastly,
There are still 4 training slots available for the 21 Sept 19, so if you have not already booked one, don’t miss out on this opportunity as its the last training day to be run this year. Following the success of the 2 sessions so far, this may be a venture that will be repeated again next year, but this is yet to be confirmed.
