28 May 19 – Mick Hanbury Demo, Competition Table Results

 In Club Nights, Competitions

Our Club night demo by Mick Hanbury on the 28th May, brought us a new idea for turning and showed the processes on how to make it successful. Turning woodturning into an art form with a few simple, but necessary, stages; you can see from the pictures the hollow form creations with coloured interiors that he then proceeded to recreate for us.

A really well attended evening from old and new members, who all enjoyed the demo. There were lots of goodies for sale from the shop and usual tea and biscuits and chatter.  A wide range of wood for sale from Martin Pidgen and pen kits etc from Barry Teague.  A big thanks to all for making it a good evening, and to Mick for sharing his enthusiasm with the Club.

This month’s competition table saw some amazing pieces of work showing the talents of our members.  A good number of entries in the Open Class, but we were somewhat lacking in Novice and Club Class.

Novice Class Winners

1st Andrew Harris, 2nd Darren Brown

Open Class Winners

1st Ric Sutherland, 2nd Peter Barrack, 3rd Richard Holland

And finally,

The Club is going to be having a stand on the 11 Aug 19 at the We’ll meet again WW2 Museum, Frieston. There are more details on the Calendar page.  However, we need to borrow a 3m x 3m or 3m x 4m gazebo if anyone has one.  If you do, let Mick Close know.  Thank you.

Please beware that the Club shop has now got set opening hours, so please don’t leave going to get what you need until the last minute as John has to cash up.  On Hands on Nights it will be open from 7pm to 9pm.  On Club Nights it will be open from 6:30pm to 7pm and then at tea break up to 8:35pm.  It won’t be open at the end of the evening.

We have a jumble collection by the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance arranged for 9 Jul 19, so if you have anything you are wanting to donate, please bring it along to the next Hands on Night or the June’s Club Night.

We have now reached the minimum order quantity for the Lovells work wear, so if you are wanting anything, we will be placing the order after the Junes Club night, so see Martin to place your order.  Payment will be on delivery.

Any ideas of Demonstrators you would like to see, please let us know.
