HANDS ON NIGHT

This month’s Hands on Night, really was hands on for several members and guests who came and tried some turning under the supervision of our experienced turners.  Some great promise shown from older and younger members and a great feedback from those who attended the one to one training days last on Saturday 11 May.   Thanks to our resident turners who kindly bring all their gear to enable these evenings to happen, so please show your support by getting involved and having a go.

On that subject, the Club has four lathes in total that could all be brought out and used during these sessions, but we need some experienced turners to come forward who would be happy to provide one to one type instruction to anyone wanting to have a go and man them during the evening.  You will need to bring along whatever tools you need and any materials etc, which if need be, the Club can reimburse any material costs incurred.  If you are interested in helping out please get in touch.

It would be nice to be able to have a list of members that could be called upon to do Hands on Nights, Club night demos and if possible training days in the future, so we are not always relying on Peter, Chris, John and Stuart and to give them a well deserved break.

New visitors also commented on what a welcoming and friendly reception they got from the Club.  A big thank you to all our members for making it the club that it is.

We had a large selection of wood and tools for sale that Mick was kept busy all evening and managed to sell quite a lot.  There is still a lot left, so please don’t forget to check it out next meeting.

Our collection of unwanted jumble type items for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance goes from strength to strength, with another load being collected during the evening.  Due to the large amount of items you have kindly donated, Sally from the Air Ambulance was unable to fit it all in the car, so will no doubt be back again soon.  So if you still have unwanted items lying around, please bring them along.

Our next Club Night Demo is Mick Hanbury on the 28 May 19, 7pm to 10pm.

You only have until the 31 May 19 to enter the free prize draw by completing the Club Survey.  Only a couple more places available for the 13 July Training Day.  Also, get you tickets for the Summer Grill nights and the Pat Carroll all day demo, see John, our Treasurer.
