TONY KITCHEN DEMO

We welcomed Tom Kitchen to the club for the first time, really well attended by our regular members, a few new members and also some first time guests. We enjoyed a night of informative turning which was entertaining for all levels of turners. The banter bounced around the room with some leg pulling and a little county rivalry (all in good spirit).

Tom is a very frugal turner, I’m sure he won’t mind us saying that, who likes to make or adapt his tools to suit his particular way of creating small and intricate pieces often from what others would call waste material.  He showed the skill of threading a lidded box and small mushroom topped pin holder, explaining the best way to get good results.

COMPETITION RESULTS

This month’s competition saw 15 people entering 21 items across the 3 classes.  Disappointingly, only 24 people actually voted, which when we had a full hall, is it really to much trouble to place a vote on what, you either like the best, think is the best piece of turning or has the best finish.  Those who have taken the time to make something to bring along, please show your support and place your three votes.  We had some great looking pieces of work and the standard was as usual, very high.  I have to mention it was brilliant to see our youngest ever Competition winner, Luke Stevenson who came second place in the Novice Class with his little bird house.  Well done Luke, keep up the good work.

And finally, Club Survey

In an attempt to bring to our members the best Club we can, we are always looking at ways to improve.  So, we need your help by completing a Club Survey which is only 22 easy questions.  At the end, you don’t have to give us your name, but if you do, firstly if there is anything we would like to discuss further with you we can, but as incentive to complete it we are offering the chance to win a £25 gift voucher to spend in our club Shop.  One entry per person.  Please click on the following link to go straight to the Survey page.  Alternatively, go to the Information Menu item and select the page from there.

The survey will remain open until the 31 May 19 and will also be open to all non internet users via paper forms within the Club.  The winner will be announced shortly after the closing date. Thank you and good luck.
