Hands on Night -12 Feb 19 and Grand Draw
HANDS ON NIGHT
Our Hands on Night was extremely well attended, possibly the most we have seen for a while. We had several new guests and a few returning ones along with our usual ever loyal members. Having had a few enquiries about the Club from via the website recently, it is good to see them coming to see what we have to offer and hopefully getting bitten by the bug and becoming a future member. Thanks to all our resident turners, John Liles, Chris Fisher, Stuart Lowe and Richard Holland in providing some excellent instruction to those wishing to have a go. We would like to wish Peter Hallam who was unable to attend, all the best and hope he feels better soon.
Our ex Membership Secretary was kept very busy showing our new Membership Secretary, Alan the ropes and taking this years membership fees and ensuring individuals membership details were correct and up to date to comply with the new GDPR requirements. If not already done so, please ensure you bring your £15 membership fees to the next meeting and check your details are correct. The sooner you do this, the quicker you will get your 2019 membership card which enables discounts to be had at Turners Retreat.
We were very pleased to see Martin and Pat Pidgen who brought their exotic and native woods for sale. Please support them as much as possible to make it worth his while in the hard work needed to bring his stock to our Club. If you are requiring anything specific for a project, it is recommended to order it first to avoid disappointment, so please contact Martin on Email: mpidgen@aol.com or Tel No: 07850 782707 to arrange.
We also welcomed Aaron Stanley from Louth who brought along some of his Spalted Beech with some amazing grain patterns. He is able to provide the following spalted timbers which are air dried under cover over several years: Maple, Ash, Sycamore, Copper Beech and English Beech. If you are after anything specific, please contact him on Email: yellowbelly069@gmail.com or Tel No: 07982 070514.
Barry Teague brought along his pen kits to sell as usual and again if you are wanting anything specific, please contact him on Email: barrythewoodturner@gmail.com or Tel No: 07534 897773.
Please support our resident suppliers as much as possible to make it worth all the effort and dedication in bringing their stock along for your convenience. Equally, our Club Shop has a fantastic range of goods at great prices, so pop in and see John Radford who will be pleased to take you money!
During the evening, we were pleased to see Sally from the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance who came along to collect our third ever growing pile of jumble items to raise money for the charity. She left with a very full car and wished she had brought along their big yellow van as we still had some bags left over. Please continue to bring your unwanted items along, so we can continue this very successful activity to support the charity.

And lastly, the GRAND DRAW
Grand Raffle – If you have not already got some books of tickets to sell to family and friends, please ensure you see John, our Treasurer and take at least 5 books or more if you can, to sell.
