Hands on Night and Tool Sale
HANDS ON NIGHT
After the Christmas break it was great to see a good turnout for our first Hands on Night of 2019. We had several new faces which is always good to see and of course all the regulars. Thanks to John Liles, Peter Hallam, Stuart Lowe and Richard Holland for manning the lathes and we hope Chris Fisher is feeling better soon. It was excellent to see a new younger turner having a go and getting some top tips and instruction from Stuart.

TOOL SALE
The Club was recently approached to help a recently widowed lady from the Louth area to clear out her late husbands workshop of all machinery, hand tools, wood and other bits and pieces. After several car and trailer trips and a lot of hard work, Mick has now got a variety of items ready for sale. Several of the larger pieces of machinery I understand have now sold, but we still have quite a bit more to go. As we are lacking space at the Club to keep everything, Mick intends to bring along items for sale to each meeting when he can. We had about 1/3 of the total amount brought along to the Hands on Night and sold several items. There will be another tool sale at the AGM on the 29 Jan 19, so don’t forget to bring some money and grab yourself several bargains.
And finally,
We need you to volunteer to help run the Club and take on the various jobs or at least help with them where you can. They have to be done to make the Club work to enable all our Members to have what I think you would agree, is the best woodturning Club ever! As they say, many hands make light work, so therefore we try and spread the jobs out so that no one individual is having to do too much. It is easy to come along to the meetings and do nothing to help, whilst others are busy helping out and getting stuck in. We have nearly 70 members, so I am sure there are more individuals that could offer to help and not just leave it to only a few. So if you have not already contacted the Secretary offering your services or via sent in a nomination form prior to the AGM, please can I ask that you have a think and volunteer where you can.
Thanks and see you all at the AGM.
