David Lowe Demo and Competition Results – 28 Aug 18

 In Club Nights, Competitions

We were joined by the very talented David Lowe who showed us how to make a rimmed bowl out of a lovely piece of rippled Sycamore, but it ended with a twist and using a router he carefully formed a lattice effect around the rim.  He finished the evening with us and made a simple but elegant project in the form of a Tea Light holder made from a piece of spalted Beech that he had rescued from the firewood pile.

A great display of work on the Competition Table, although somewhat lacking in the number of entries in the Club Class.  Great to see a few Clam Shell boxes being made by our members as demonstrated by Sue Harker at last month’s demo. Congratulations to the following winners of the individual classes:

Novice Class

1st Karl Leverton, 2nd Ady Backhouse, 3rd Alan Clift

Club Class

1st Ron Marnie

Open Class

1st Tony Cooke, 2nd Chris Fisher, 3rd Ric Sutherland

See you all on the 11th Sept 18 at our next Hands on Night.

Happy turning!
