General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) – Your Action is Required
As a Club, we will have to be compliant with the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that come into force from the 25 May 2018. Not heard of it?
Well in the UK, GDPR will replace the Data Protection Act 1998. GDPR seeks to give people more control over how organisations use their data, and introduced hefty penalties for organisations that fail to comply with the rules. It also ensures data protection law is almost identical across the EU and will remain in force after we leave the EU.
So what does the Club need to do?
There are a number of things we are in the process of putting into place in regard to your membership which will require your action very soon, so watch this space. One of the first steps was having to amend our Data Privacy Policy, which now explains what we require, why, how it is used, your rights etc. We will now require you to agree to it and give your consent for us to hold various bits of personal data that you have provided.
Where can I find a copy of our Data Privacy Policy?
You can either download a pdf copy from here – Link or read online here – Link
How do I agree and give my consent?
